Our business model
We have never been a traditional bricks-and-mortar practice. That is a deliberate choice, and it is why our fees look the way they do.
A virtual company by design
LegalRoad has always functioned as a virtual company. All our consultants are well versed in video conferencing and remote collaboration. That means we attend to client needs considerably faster — and it means we pass our infrastructure cost savings directly on to clients, who also save the time and aggravation of travelling to meetings.
Consultants, not employees
Our people are not only employees. They also include independent legal consultants, experts, co-workers and partners who are considered the elite in their field. Building and maintaining that network gives us the resources to deliver excellent work without carrying the fixed cost of a large permanent headcount.
As a virtual company, our consultants can operate from wherever they choose and enjoy a healthy work-life balance. The quality of our people — their professional performance, talent, enthusiasm and approach to humanity — is why clients like working with us.
Where the saving actually comes from
- No recruitment fees, National Insurance, pension contributions, holiday pay or desk space
- No idle capacity — you pay for an hours band, not a full-time salary
- Specialists on demand instead of one generalist hire covering everything
- Infrastructure savings passed on, rather than absorbed into a premium city-centre lease
- Fixed monthly fees, so legal spend can be budgeted like any other line item
The practical consequence is set out on our pricing page: the more hours you commit to each month, the lower your effective hourly rate, down to a 45% discount on the Gold package.
What you get in exchange
A core benefit of working with us is that we combine the commercial and flexible approach of an in-house lawyer with the solid support and quality standards of an established legal services company. You can take that virtually, working remotely alongside your business.
